My name is Cathy and I live in a van. I quit my corporate job just outside of New York City, and left the suburbs of New Jersey after living there all my life. I’m looking for a new life out west, and I’m gonna go find it. I had been paying rent since way back in 1999, and when I was faced with another rent increase in 2024, I decided that I was done living paycheck to paycheck, being threatened with homelessness if just a few weeks of work was missed. Other people have done it, and I love camping. So moving into my car was the best available option for me. I saved some money and when work pressure got to be too much I decided to quit that world and go find another.
